Pedestrian seriously hurt when struck by vehicle in Vancouver

Driver of vehicle arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault

A 48-year-old man was seriously injured late Wednesday when he was struck by a vehicle in Vancouver, according to the Vancouver Police Department. The driver of the vehicle was arrested.

The crash occurred at 10:40 p.m. in the 13100 block of Northeast 28th Street, according to a police statement.

The statement said witnesses told investigators that the man was jumping in and out of traffic when he was struck by a vehicle driving west on Northeast 28th Street.

The man, whose name was not released, was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injures, the statement said. His name was not released.

The driver of the vehicle, Ileta Simonov, 23, was arrested and booked on suspicion of first-degree vehicular assault, according to the statement. It said alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
