Camas — Maggie’s Angels gathered on Oct. 20 at Grains of Wrath in Camas to honor the memory of Maggie Bye, who was diagnosed with cancer when she was 15 years old. Before her death in 2008, Maggie, who died when she was 20, was granted a wish through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and met fashion designer Marc Jacobs. She then set a goal to help other sick children have their wishes granted. At the Grains of Wrath event, the nonprofit raised enough money to grant two wishes through an auction featuring gifts and packages from local businesses. This was the nonprofit’s second Brews 4 Wishes event, as Maggie’s parents, Barb and Dave Bye, recently relocated to Camas to be near their grandchildren. To date, Maggie’s Angels has raised more than $321,000 and granted 37 wishes, including sending kids to Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawaii, New York City Fashion Week and the Monaco Grand Prix.
