Symbol of Freedom, a two-event series centered around Veterans Day, raised $92,000 for CDM Caregiving Services to be used to help seniors live in their homes as long as possible.

“The Living with Dignity Program fills gaps in care, meets people where they are on life’s journey, and synergistically unites the community to make life better for our elderly and disabled citizens,” Eric Erickson, the nonprofit’s executive director, said in a news release.

Keynote speaker at Symbol of Freedom’s Nov. 2 luncheon was retired Lt. Col. Robert Darling, who went to the underground White House bunker during 9/11 with Vice President Dick Cheney, National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice and around 20 other military personnel, where they made critical decisions.

“CDM Caregiving Services and their staff embody the true ideals of our great nation; volunteerism, equality and dignity for all, self-sacrifice, and the courage and strength to do what is right for our elderly and for those who need it most,” Darling said in the news release.
