VANCOUVER – Burgerville workers at the Hawthorne location in Portland formally filed Friday for a union election with the National Labor Relations Board.
Earlier this week, 80 percent of the workers signed a petition seeking union recognition. Workers at the restaurant, 1122 S.E. Hawthorne Blvd., anticipate the NLRB will launch the election in early to mid-December. If approved, it would become the third Burgerville shop to join contract negotiations.
In April, workers at the Southeast 92nd Avenue and Powell Boulevard location voted to unionize. A month later, workers at the Gladstone location also joined the union.
Burgerville, owned by Holland Inc., has about 1,500 employees across 42 locations in Oregon and Washington.
