The Clark County Sheriff’s Office says a driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash Thursday morning in Hockinson.

Deputies and emergency responders with Clark County Fire District 3 were dispatched at 7:47 a.m. to the 18800 block of Northeast 174th Street for a report of a crash. The road is a rural, two-lane highway with a speed limit of 40 mph.

A resident called 911 and reported that a pickup crashed into his fence and a tree. The caller said the man inside the truck was unresponsive, according to deputies.

“Scene evidence indicates that the vehicle drove off the south side of the roadway, then collided with a fence and tree on private property,” deputies said.

Medics tried to resuscitate the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The exact cause of the crash is being investigated by the sheriff’s office’s traffic unit.

Deputies said the victim will be identified once his family has been notified of his death.

Correction: The above article incorrectly reported that the speed limit on Northeast 174th Street was 50 mph. It is 40 mph.
