East Vancouver — The Union High School robotics team, Geared Reaction, was awarded a $2,250 Tech Challenge grant from the state Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction. The team is in its sixth season, and has made it to the state tournament four years in a row. The team also secured a spot in the world championships in Houston. Students collaborate in the areas of engineering and design, programming, outreach and scouting to develop a robot that can accomplish a predetermined set of challenges each year.
