A Vancouver man wounded while allegedly exchanging gunfire with law enforcement officers in Portland on Oct. 19 has been released from a hospital and booked into jail, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
Jason Leo Hansen, 29, is being held on suspicion of attempted aggravated murder, first degree theft, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine, attempt to elude by motor vehicle, and attempt to elude on foot, the police bureau said in a news release Friday.
Police said Hansen had fled from a Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputy and exchanged gunfire with a Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputy and a Portland Police Bureau canine unit officer on Oct. 19 in southeast Portland.
Hansen had been receiving treatment for gunshot wounds at a Portland hospital before being discharged Friday.
In Oregon, the district attorney submits the findings of the police investigation to a grand jury, which decides which charges criminal suspects will face. The grand jury will consider Hansen’s case at a date to be determined.
