Volunteer Connections provides opportunities through the Human Services Council. For information on the following, call 360-735-3690.

• AARP Tax Aide is recruiting volunteers to train as certified tax preparers or to provide customer service and administrative support beginning Feb. 1 at seven sites in Clark and Skamania counties. Volunteers receive free training in December and January and are expected to volunteer four to 15 hours per week between Feb. 1 and April 15.

• YWCA serves abused and neglected children in the court system. Volunteers in the Court Appointed Special Advocates program look out for the best interests of the children. There will be a session to learn more about the CASA program at 6 p.m. on Nov. 29 at YWCA, 3609 Main St., Vancouver.

• Humane Society for Southwest Washington — Retails Thrift Store seeks volunteer help for the holiday season. Stock shelves with holiday items, keep the store looking good, and assist customers during shifts of two to three hours between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Youth 12 and older may work with a parent or guardian.

• Rock Solid Teen Center in Brush Prairie seeks adults to help with snacks, homework, crafts or to engage in positive conversation with teens, 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. There will be a background check.

• Salvation Army is recruiting bell ringers for the holiday season, beginning in early November. Many shifts and locations are available. Intake volunteers are also needed to interview clients, during morning or afternoon shifts, Dec. 17-21.

Clark County Public Works seeks volunteers to help plant native vegetation, 8 a.m. to noon on Nov. 17, near Turtle Pond near Salmon Creek Greenway Trail. Volunteers should wear weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe boots or shoes. Youth 13 and younger can volunteer with a parent or guardian. Teenagers 14 to 17 years old need to have signed minor consent forms to volunteer without a parent or guardian. Sign up online at bit.ly/Turtle-Pond.

Columbia Springs seeks help from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 17 with projects including removing invasive species, trail maintenance, and preparing the park for winter. Snacks, tools, gloves, training and guidance will be provided. Volunteers should bring a water bottle, wear closed-toe shoes, and dress in work-appropriate clothing.
