Bagley Downs — The Foundation for Vancouver Public Schools received a $5,000 grant from the Vancouver Rotary Foundation to support housing stability. The foundation addresses housing stability to help students remain on track in school while their family stabilizes. Direct housing aid includes the foundation’s Housing Stability Fund, which helps qualifying district students and families remain in their homes when they find themselves unable to pay rent due to a short-term job loss, illness or family crisis. During the 2017-2018 school year, the Housing Stability Fund helped 247 students from 90 families avoid eviction through one-time housing assistance. The fund is administered through a partnership with Council for the Homeless.
