BATTLE GROUND — North County Community Food Bank in Battle Ground is preparing for its annual Christmas Family Adoption & Christmas Food Box Distribution program.

“Every Christmas season, I see those who are struggling. I interact with single parents, sharing their personal fears and concerns about providing for their family,” the food bank’s executive director, Elizabeth Cerveny, said in a news release. “The Christmas season adds yet another layer of stress to their lives and struggles, wanting more for their children.”

The food bank, which helps about 700 households monthly, is seeking help bringing holiday joy to its clients through gifts and holiday food boxes.

• Volunteers are needed to help sort and prepare food from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 11 and 12, as well as distribute food 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Dec. 15. The distribution will take place at Battle Ground Community Center, 912 N.E. Main St.

• The Battle Ground Kiwanis Club coordinates the gift distribution and will be sorting donations 5 p.m. Dec. 13 in the Kiwanis Park building at 422 S.W. Second Ave. Toy donations can be dropped off at the food bank at 17 N.E. Third Ave. or the Battle Ground Les Schwab at 1719 W. Main St.

Those wanting to get involved or make donations can contact Cerveny at 360-687-5007 or executive.director@nccfoodbank.org.
