The college basketball season is warming up for several athletes from Clark County.
For Jossilyn Blackman, it’s off to a hot start.
The senior from Battle Ground scored a career-high 21 points to lead Lewis-Clark State to a 68-58 win over Whitman on Nov. 1.
Blackman, a 6-foot forward, was 8 for 9 from the field and had nine rebounds. She was named NAIA Frontier Conference player of the week for helping the Warriors (3-0) knock off Whitman, the No. 7-ranked team in NCAA Division III.
Blackman is averaging 16.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Last season, she led the team in total points scored (297) and rebounds (185) while playing in all 31 games.
“It’s great to see Jossilyn playing so well early in the season,” head coach Brian Orr told the school’s website. “What I really appreciate is that the effort she’s giving us every morning in practice is carrying over to the games.”
