The body of a Kelso man who was reported missing in mid-October was located Saturday in the Swift Reservoir, near the Swift Camp Ground, 18 miles east of Cougar.

The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office received a call shortly before 12:30 p.m. from Paul Taylor who was with a group of scouts at the campground when they found the body of 18-year-old Garrett M. Canada, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Deputies responded and confirmed the deceased was Canada, the news release states.

Canada was reported missing Oct. 15 while hiking near Lava Canyon. A multi-day search ensued at the time, and there was evidence to suggest he had fallen into the water, according to the news release.

His body was transported to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
