It appears the weather pattern will be on the quiet side of things as the week wears on. A few showers today and Monday around the region and then things dry out somewhat later Tuesday through Thursday. Might have some blue skies and sunshine later on. Not bad considering November is usually our wettest month of the year.
Still no snow in sight for the mountains, at lower elevations anyway, as all the cold air remains far to our north. The interior of Alaska is chilly with temperatures below freezing and some near zero.
Across the Yukon, temperatures are way below zero. How does minus 30 sound? On Oct. 30, Barrow, Alaska had a low of minus 19 degrees, their coldest October temperature since 1996.
Hopefully, eventually some of that cold air will head our way and dump some snow in the Cascades. Meanwhile, rainfall totals for October are rolling in from weather watchers around the county, and it is nice to see normal and above rainfall amounts. Dry season over? Let’s see what November does; it has a way to catch up. I don’t see a rainy-wet-stormy pattern quite yet, but things can change quickly and the last half of the month could be wet. We’ll see.
