How Clark County college football players fared, Nov. 3

By Micah Rice, Columbian Sports Editor
Published: November 4, 2018, 7:19pm

No Central Washington lineup has ever rushed for more yards in a game.

Clark County players had hands in making it happen.

Central Washington rushed for a school record 514 yards in a 74-28 win Saturday at Southwest Baptist.

While running backs Cedric Cooper and Michael Roots combined for 347 rushing yards, everyone knows an offensive line makes those yards happen. Therefore Will Ortner, the starting left guard from Hockinson, can share in the credit.

Central Washington quarterback Reilly Hennessey, a senior from Camas, also had himself a good day rushing. Conducting a read-option offense, Hennessey rushed 10 times for 82 yards, including touchdowns of 32 and 3 yards. He also 10 of 16 passes for 153 yards, including a touchdown pass of 27 yards and no interceptions.

On defense, Kai Gamble (Union) had a career high eight tackles while starting on the defensive line.

Saturday’s non-conference win was a good tuneup for Central Washington’s biggest game of the season. The Wildcats (7-2, 7-0) can clinch their second consecutive Great Northwest Athletic Conference title Saturday by beating Azusa Pacific, which would grab a share of the title by stealing a win in Ellensburg.
