HILLSBORO, Ore. — Tanner Gueller passed for four touchdowns and ran for another to help Idaho State beat Portland State 48-45 on Saturday night at Hillsboro Stadium.

Gueller was 15-of-30 passing for 344 yards with no interceptions and added 78 yards rushing, including a 5-yards scoring run, on 13 carries. Mitch Gueller, Tanner’s brother, had six receptions for 144 yards and two TDs and Michael Dean added five receptions for 152 yards and two scores for Idaho State (6-3, 5-1 Big Sky).

Davis Alexander hit Emmanuel Daigbe for 15 yards on a fourth-and-9 to move Portland State into Bengals territory with about 2½ minutes left but Christian Holland sacked Alexander for an 11-yard loss on the next play and, after Kainoa Fuiava’s strip-sack on fourth-and-1, recovered a fumble as time expired.

Alexander completed 18 of 31 for 273 yards and two TDs and added 64 yards rushing and three scores on 18 carries for Portland State (4-5, 3-3).

The teams combined for 1,115 total yards, including 597 by the Vikings, who had their three-game win streak snapped.
