Vancouver author wins award for debut novel

Cascade Highlands — Robert Davies of Vancouver won a silver medal in the 2018 Independent Publisher Book Awards for his novel “Specimen 959.”

Davies’ debut novel won a silver medal in the science fiction category. “Specimen” is the first book in The Specimen Chronicles, and follows the last space run of engineer Darrien Norris, who is thrust into an alien horror when his shuttle is thrown off course.

Davies is a Michigan-born Navy veteran who now lives in Vancouver.
