The various paths that brought hundreds of thousands of people to Clark County will be the topic of Saturday’s discussion at Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St., Vancouver.

The community conversations — “How We Came to Clark County” — will be from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Columbia Room.

The sponsors — including Clark County Historical Museum, Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries and Washington State University Vancouver — are inviting local residents to meet their neighbors and share how you and your ancestors came to the area.

Participants will visit in facilitated small groups and come together in a larger group to explore our shared history.

Registration is recommended; go to clarkcountystories@gmail.com.

These conversations are part of the series Clark County Stories: How We Came to this Place. The discussions recognize that there is a gulf of understanding between recent arrivals and Clark County residents with deeper historical roots.

The population of Clark County has more than doubled in the past three decades (from 221,654 to nearly 500,000 in 2017) and more than half (54 percent) of the current residents were born in another state or country.
