Nominees for Week 8 spring sports prep athlete of the week

Voting, sponsored by Athletes Corner, continues through Thursday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian spring sports prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending May 19.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Thursday, with results announced in Friday’s edition of The Columbian.

To avoid vote manipulation, voting is restricted by IP address, one vote per IP address. That means people voting while connected to a public WIFI access may be unable vote. We suggest voting be done by private internet access or through your cellular provider.

DANIEL COPELAND, SKYVIEW BASEBALL: Copeland threw seven shutout innings in the first-round game and went 4 for 9 with two RBI in both games at the 4A Everett Regional.

EMMA JENKINS, CAMAS GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD: Jenkins swept to wins in the 1,600 (4:57.58) and 3,200 (10:53.61) at the 4A bi-ditrict meet in Kent.

TREY KNIGHT, RIDGEFIELD BOYS TRACK: Knight won the discus (172-6) and broke his own meet record in the shot put (63-5) at the 2A district meet in Tumwater.

KALLIE SAKAMOTO, WASHOUGAL GIRLS GOLF: Sakamoto shot a pair of 74s at Orchard Hills to win the 2A district title by 26 shots.

KYLEE SNIDER, PRAIRIE SOFTBALL: Snider went 8 for 15 with eight RBI in four games including the game-winning home run in the semifinals of the 3A bi-district tournament.
