ilani to host ‘Amy Schumer and Friends’

Amy Schumer, one of the top comedians in America, is coming to ilani’s new Cowlitz Ballroom on Aug. 9. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through Tickemaster and www.ilaniresort.com for “Amy Schumer and Friends.”

Schumer hosted “Saturday Night Live” last weekend, and her film “I Feel Pretty” is showing in cinemas nationwide. Reviews for that have been mixed, but praise for Schumer’s usual sharp, perceptive performance has been strong; far more universally praised was 2015’s “Trainwreck,” a biting send-up of sweet romantic comedies, which Schumer wrote as well as starred in.

She’s also noted for writing, directing, producing and starring in her own Comedy Central sketch series, “Inside Amy Schumer,” which ran from 2013 to 2016 and won two Emmy awards.

Schumer will share the stage at ilani’s Cowlitz Ballroom with fellow comedians Bridgett Everett, Rachel Feinstein and Mia Jackson. Tickets are $59 and $99.

Schumer fans already know what ilani warns us: The show is adult content, intended for mature audiences only. Additionally, her performance will be phone free. No phones, cameras or recording devices will be permitted in the Cowlitz Ballroom; all phones and smart watches will be locked in Yondr pouches that guests will keep with them — but won’t be unlocked until the end of the show. If you must use your phone during the show, you’ll need to go to a designated Phone Use Area away from the rest of the audience.
