Brush Prairie — On May 4, 2013, Brian Wilson fell 15-plus feet from a tree at his uncle’s housing, sustaining multiple facial, skull and neck fractures. He had to have two brain surgeries to clear the bleeding and tear in a blood vessel in his brain.
Wilson was off 16 months from his job as a nurse at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. When he returned, he was working on the same floor as the people who took care of him.
Wilson’s wife, Rosa Wilson, wanted to do something to celebrate Brian’s life and thank the people who cared for him. She called American Medical Response to see where to bring coffee and donuts for EMTs, and started posting about it on social media with the hashtag “take5forbrian,” asking people to pay an extra $5 to cover a drink at Dutch Bros. for the next first responder who drove through. She reached out to Dutch Bros. in Battle Ground to see if they would be willing to contribute some punch cards or free drink cards, and the owner of the location ended up giving her 34 free coffee cards.
Fairway Coffee jumped aboard and donated 20 full punch cards, as well.
Wilson delivered the cards to EMTs earlier this month.
