A car crashed into a power pole and fire hydrant overnight Sunday, causing damage that closed a portion of 33rd Street in Vancouver.

Vancouver police were dispatched to East 33rd and Q streets shortly after 4 a.m. and found a vehicle had struck the pole and hydrant, said Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp.

The police report was unavailable, Kapp said, but she noted there was no indication of injuries in the information she had on hand.

Vancouver Fire Department responded to the scene and blocked traffic until Clark Public Utilities arrived to start repairs on power lines that the vehicle knocked down, said VFD public information officer Joe Spatz.

C-Tran said in a tweet early Monday that its buses on Route 39 had been put on a detour due to the closure of 33rd Street, between P and T streets. The detour affected four stops.

Utility spokeswoman Erica Erland said in an email that repairs to the power pole were completed around noon. No customers lost power, she said.
