A crash on Interstate 5 near the La Center exit killed a 58-year-old Woodland man and blocked traffic in the area for several hours Saturday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

A report from the state patrol states the driver, Stephen C. Whittaker, 58, was heading northbound on Interstate 5 in a 2001 Dodge pickup at about 6 p.m., when he lost control of the vehicle and rolled it. The vehicle came to rest on the median near exit 16 for Ilani, the casino.

Whittaker was wearing a seat belt, according to the report. No one else was injured in the incident. The pickup was a total loss.

The state patrol said it was unclear what caused the crash, whether alcohol or drugs were involved, and that the crash is under investigation.
