Clark County – Council for the Homeless has been tasked with updating Clark County’s Homeless Action Plan, which was last updated in 2014.

“The update will inform the next three to five years of our community’s efforts to address homelessness in Clark County,” the council said in a news release.

As part of the updating process, public forums will be held over the next two months to gather community input that will be presented to the Clark County Council later this year.

The forums will happen in different places around the county:

  • 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Battle Ground Community Center, 912 E. Main St., Battle Ground.
  • 1:30 to 3 p.m. May 24 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 12513 S.E. Mill Plain, Vancouver.
  • 1 to 2:30 p.m. May 29 at YWCA Clark County, 3609 Main Street, Vancouver.
  • 9:30 to 11 a.m. May 31 at the Luke Jensen Sports Park, 400 N.E. 78th St., Vancouver.
  • 3 to 4:30 p.m. June 5 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 324 N.E. Oak St., Camas.
  • 1 to 2:30 p.m. June 11 at Partners In Careers, 3219 N.E. 52nd St., Vancouver.

Questions to discuss at the forums include: How should meeting basic human needs be balanced with the need for stable, permanent housing? Which subpopulations (e.g. families, senior citizens, etc.) would you prioritize? What solutions have worked elsewhere that our community should pursue?
