A boy allegedly threatening his family with kitchen knives Friday afternoon near Hazel Dell in Vancouver was arrested and taken into custody.

Clark County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call at 4:30 p.m. Friday of a mother reporting that her son was out of control near the 8200 block of N.W. 12th Avenue in Vancouver and had armed himself with a pair of large kitchen knives, according to a statement released by the sheriff’s office.

Another caller reported seeing the boy, whose identity and age were not released, in the street threatening the mother and father with knives, the report stated.

Deputies responded and found the boy in the street, the report stated. As deputies approached, the boy picked a knife up off the ground and approached a pair of people nearby. One of the deputies reportedly used his vehicle to intervene and intentionally struck the subject with the vehicle’s bumper.

According to the report, the boy suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital before being arrested and booked into the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center.

The name of the juvenile is not being released.

The incident is being investigated by detectives from the Regional Major Crimes Team.
