Washington State Patrol identified the driver in a fatal crash that killed a pedestrian on state Highway 14 on Thursday night as a 49-year-old Vancouver man.

Troopers say Brent K. Johnson was driving eastbound on the highway in a black 2004 Dodge Ram pickup, approaching Milepost 1.5 when he struck the unidentified pedestrian, according to a WSP release.

The crash, near Columbia House Boulevard, was reported around 9:15 p.m.

An 18-year-old was riding as a passenger in the truck, the release says.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, troopers said. The release says the pedestrian on the highway caused the crash.

No criminal charges have been filed against the driver.

The crash had all eastbound lanes blocked, with traffic getting by on the shoulder.
