Washougal — Kindness spread throughout the Washougal School District for two weeks in April when it joined in as part of #MSDKindness Month in the city to honor shooting victims from Marjory Douglas High School. “We call ourselves Kindness Ambassadors,” Washougal High School senior Katie Boon, a member of the Unite! Prevention Club, said in a release from the district. “We are working to create an even more positive environment around school, especially with a focus on kindness.” Activities at the school included distribution of free thank-you cards, sending “Smile Grams” to friends and anyone needing to be cheered up, and signing the Kindness Pledge. One popular event was the Compliment Battle, in which two people traded quick-fire compliments back and forth, starting with Principal Aaron Hansen and teacher Ryan Isaacson.
