BRUSH PRAIRIE — Andy Schoonover will be the next principal of Hockinson High School. He is scheduled to start July 1, pending school board approval.

Schoonover is currently principal of Summit View High School in Battle Ground Public Schools, where he also served as assistant principal of Pleasant Valley Middle School, Chief Umtuch Middle School and Prairie High School. He also taught social studies in Battle Ground schools and served as a senior counselor at Association of Washington School Principals student leadership camp for 13 years.

He is taking over for Colleen Anders, who was named director of teaching and learning for the school district, where she will support all areas of curriculum adoption, assessment and federal- and state-funded programs.

Anders will take over some responsibilities held by Assistant Superintendent Slade McSheehy, who is leaving the district to become superintendent of Vashon Island School District.
