East Mill Plain — Washington State University Extension’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education’s Harvest of the Month program came to Mill Plain Elementary School. This month, the featured local ingredient was potatoes. About 480 students tried local red and yellow roasted potatoes, with 382 students surveyed saying that they liked them. The potatoes came from Pioneer Farms in Mount Vernon. Potatoes will be featured on the lunch menu throughout the month at all elementary schools in Evergreen Public Schools.
