A Battle Ground woman was hospitalized after she was rear-ended while driving Monday afternoon on Interstate 205 in Vancouver.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Victoria L. Thomas, 24, and Terry J. Patten, 48, of Portland were both heading north on Interstate 205, near state Highway 500, at around 4 p.m.

Thomas slowed for traffic ahead, but Patten did not, slamming into Thomas’ car.

The crash totaled Thomas’ car, and she was taken to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center for her injuries. Her condition was not available.

Patten was unhurt, troopers said.

The State Patrol said Patten was cited for following too closely.
