East County — Those looking for safety in Clark County should head east, at least according to the National Council for Home Safety and Security, which put out its list of the Safest Cities in Washington for 2018. Two Clark County cities made the top 10: Camas, which came in fourth, and Washougal, which was placed eighth. The council reviewed FBI Uniform Crime Report statistics, and came up with the rankings based on the number of reported violent crimes and property crimes. Violent crimes were weighted more than property crimes. The next Clark County city ranked was Battle Ground at 13th, followed by Vancouver at 44th. The council only ranked cities with populations greater than 10,000, so some of the smaller cities in the county didn’t quality for the list.
