The local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association is offering two free educational programs this month for those interested in learning about the disease.

The first class, “The Basics,” is 2 to 3:30 p.m. March 21 at Kaiser Permanente Orchards Medical Office, Room A, 7101 N.E. 137th Ave., Vancouver. The class will include information on detection, causes and risk factors, stages of the disease and treatment.

The second class, “Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body,” is 10 to 11:30 a.m. March 29 at Columbia Bank, 101 E. Sixth St., Suite 100, Vancouver. The class will cover research on diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement and use hands-on tools to incorporate the recommendations into a plan for health aging.

Registration is required for the classes. To register, or for more information, call 800-272-3900.
