Letter: Seniors need property tax relief

By Arnie Zweig, VANCOUVER
Published: March 8, 2018, 6:00am

We are seniors living on a fixed income. Four years ago, we downsized our home in the hopes we would have a place to live independently for the rest of our time. We don’t want to be a burden to our children or the community.

In that time, our property taxes have increased to the point where it is now our largest monthly expense. I have sent numerous emails to our state representatives asking for their help for all Clark County seniors. None have bothered to acknowledge me, much less taken any action to help. If something is not done to relieve the property tax burden on seniors, I fear the county and state will have a much larger financial and social burden to deal with. Remember that the entire state Legislature is in Democratic control, the so-called party of the people.
