Battle Ground — Seniors Everett Buck of CAM Academy and Kylie Sahota of Battle Ground High School were named two of 4,500 national candidates for the 2018 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, which is in its 54th year. Candidates are selected based on superior academic and artistic achievements, leadership qualities, strong character and involvement in community and school activities. Up to 161 scholars are chosen from each graduating senior class and are invited to Washington, D.C., in June for the National Recognition Program, which features enrichment activities and a presentation of the Presidential Scholars Medallion during a White House-sponsored ceremony. The scholars will be announced in May.
