Battle Ground — While the Winter Olympics were taking place last month, students at Pleasant Valley Primary School toured the world to learn about different countries. Each class was assigned a different country, and students then researched that country’s history and customs. There was also a large map on the wall by the lunch areas where countries were highlighted and classroom research was displayed. The students tracked each country’s medal counts throughout the Olympics and updated the school-wide bulletin board. Students were also encouraged to complete a project about their personal history and culture to highlight all of the cultures represented at the school.
