Former Clark County resident Sarah Crouch won the women’s Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans Half Marathon on Sunday.

The Hockinson High grad and former runner for Western Washington who now lives in Flagstaff, Ariz., posted a time of 1 hour, 17 minutes, 56 seconds.

She was also eighth overall out of 8,000 participants.

Crouch, 28, got the win by pulling away in the final quarter mile.

“My intention was to battle it out with whoever was there, but I always end up cheering for the people next to me,” Crouch told The Times-Picayune of New Orleans. “I guess about a quarter mile to go, I knew I would have to kick it up to get the win. For 13 miles, I enjoyed my time running with Rachel (Paul) who must be a local because they were cheering for her. I knew I just wanted to run with the lead runner whoever that was until it was time to crank it up.”

New Orleans’ Rachel Paul, 24, was second with a time of 1:18.19.
