PORTLAND — Bryce Canda scored 24 points and Brandon Hollins scored 18 with 13 rebounds and Portland State beat North Dakota 97-90 in overtime on Saturday.
Canda’s 3-pointer with 1:24 left in overtime gave Portland State (11-19, 6-12 Big Sky) the lead for good at 89-88. Canda followed with four straight free throws and Hollins threw down a dunk with 13 seconds left to seal it. North Dakota missed five of its last six shots in overtime.
Geno Crandall made 1 of 2 foul shots to tie it at 81 with three seconds left at the end of regulation for North Dakota.
Portland State led 42-31 at halftime and the Vikings shot 17 of 33 (51.5 percent) from the field. North Dakota (19-12, 9-9) came out of the break to outscore Portland State 21-13 in the first seven minutes and Dale Jones’ dunk reduced the Fighting Hawks’ deficit to 55-52.
Jones led North Dakota with 21 points and Crandall scored 17.
