Portland – Rose Quarter drivers should prepare for major delays due to some freeway and ramp paving projects, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.

The ramp that connects Interstate 5 southbound to Interstate 84 eastbound will be closed for two weeks beginning July 8. It will reopen July 23.

I-5 southbound will be closed for paving between the Fremont and the Marquam bridges from 10 p.m. July 13 to 5 a.m. July 16 and from 10 p.m. July 20 to 5 a.m. July 23.

Travelers will use the Fremont Bridge and Interstate 405 during the closures.

Drivers should expect long delays and backups on southbound I-5 that could last most of the day and night. They could stretch to the I-5 Bridge during this closure.

Information on options to avoid delays are available at BigFixPDX.com.
