Battle Ground council honors students heading to military

Battle Ground — At Military Appreciation Night, Battle Ground city councilors honored 16 high school seniors for committing to serve in the military.

Councilor Philip Johnson, who is retired from the United States Army, began the event by recognizing the many military veterans and active service members who were in attendance at the council meeting, including Tudor F. Davis, U.S. Navy veteran who served in World War II and was in the Navy from 1941 to 1961.

Nine students were in attendance that night: Richard Landon, Tyler Sandel, Spencer Hamilton, Orion Macy, Clayton Hively, Cristian Whitney, Braxton Haushild, Alexander Perry and Matthew Collyer.

The other honorees who couldn’t make the meeting were: Jennifer Oschner, Christopher Flynn, Noah Cyr, Christopher Mogk, Michael Walker, Ryan Rodgers and Liam Neuenschwander.
