A Washougal man who lost control of his Ford Mustang and struck a tree off state Highway 14 earlier this month has died, according to Washington State Patrol.

Robert S. Herington, 46, died Tuesday morning at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, troopers said. His family was notified of his death.

Troopers previously reported that on June 10 Herington was eastbound on the highway, behind the wheel of a blue 2017 Mustang, when he tried to pass another vehicle at Milepost 29. He lost control when merging back into the eastbound lanes, and the Mustang rolled before crashing into a tree.

Drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash, but troopers continue to investigate.
