Clark County Fire & Rescue has planned a live fire training for Saturday in Ridgefield.

Firefighters will hone their skills using a nearly 3,000-square-foot, early 1900s house acquired from a local developer, according to a fire department press release. The training will be from about 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2127 N. 3rd Way.

“The district uses structures like this to provide realistic training for its firefighters to bolster their experience and education and to meet a state mandate requiring live fire training once every three years,” the fire department said.

About 25 career, volunteer and intern firefighters will be rotating through sections of the house learning about fire behavior, extinguishment, search and rescue, and ventilation techniques.

Notice was given to residents in the area who may be affected by the large presence of fire personnel, as well as smoke from the fire.

The public is invited to stop by and watch the exercise.
