One person was injured in a three-vehicle crash Monday morning on state Highway 14 in Skamania County, according to the Washington State Patrol.
A 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by James I. Campbell, 39, of Goldendale was traveling west on the highway near Belle Center Road shortly before 8 a.m. when the vehicle took a corner too fast and lost control, rotating 180 degrees into the eastbound lane. An eastbound 2006 Kenworth tractor-trailer struck the rear of the Cavalier, a WSP report states.
Meanwhile, a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo driven by Charlene D. Bailey, 57, no address provided, was also traveling west when she came upon the crash and moved to the right to avoid it. She struck the jersey barrier on the right shoulder, according to WSP.
The Cavalier and tractor-trailer came to rest blocking the eastbound lane.
Campbell was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver for unspecified injuries. He was in satisfactory condition late Monday morning and was expected to be released later in the day, according to a hospital spokesman.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, Jeremy A. Naumann, 39, of Chehalis was uninjured. Bailey was also uninjured, the WSP report says.
The Cavalier and tractor-trailer were totaled and towed from the scene. Bailey’s vehicle was also towed.
Troopers cited speed as the cause of the crash.
Campbell was cited for second-degree negligent driving and third-degree driving with a suspended license, according to the WSP report.
