Six arrested after emphasis project in east Vancouver

An emphasis project conducted by Vancouver police resulted in six arrests Wednesday.

A team of 25 Neighbors on Watch (NOW) volunteers, 15 police officers and two Department of Corrections officers were stationed along Mill Plain Boulevard between Northeast 104th and 136th avenues, intending to observe or intercept suspicious or criminal activity in commercial parking lots, according to a press release from the Vancouver Police Department.

The team made 24 traffic stops or contacts, leading to six arrests in 4 1/2 hours.

Four individuals were arrested on outstanding warrants, while two were arrested during a drug transaction observed by NOW volunteers. Additionally, police recovered two stolen vehicles, the press release states.
