The public is invited to an open house held by the Gifford Pinchot National Forest from 5 to 7 p.m. July 12 at the forest headquarters building on the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site campus at 987 McClellan Road in Vancouver.

Forest Service staff plan to talk with the public about accomplishing common goals, sharing information about agency services, highlighting experiential opportunities and more.

At the beginning of the open house, the forest supervisor will provide a short welcome and be available for one-on-one talks. Guided tours of the restored building will be offered at 5:45 p.m. and 6 p.m. A kids area will have activities for children, and Smokey Bear is scheduled to visit at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Recreation, partnerships, roads, timber facilities, wildlife, and fire prevention are a few of the topics that will be highlighted at the meeting.
