Ambulances took two men to a hospital after a passenger car and pickup collided on state Highway 503 north of Lewisville Park Thursday afternoon.

The crash, near Highway 503 and Northeast 299th Street, was reported around 2:45 p.m.

The Washington State Patrol said Garrett L. Kinnison, 23, of Yacolt was heading north and Lloyd D. McCormack, 81, of Milwaukie, Ore., was going south.

Kinnison drifted onto the right shoulder, the state patrol said, and Kinnison corrected leftward, causing his Subaru Legacy four-door to turn counter-clockwise and into the southbound lanes.

McCormack, driving a Ford F150, then struck the rear of Kinnison’s vehicle.

Clark County Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Dawdy said firefighters had to cut the roof from the car to get Kinnison out.

“Basically, what we do here is remove the car from around the patient,” he said.

The pickup driver seemed to have fared a bit better, Dawdy said, characterizing the driver’s injuries as moderate.

Both were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Their conditions were unavailable.

Troopers cited Kinnison for negligent driving.

The crash temporarily blocked traffic on the highway.
