Humphreys, Tibbits reach quarterfinals of Oregon Amateur golf

Clark County natives Brian Humphreys and Spencer Tibbits could be on a collision course at the 109th Oregon Amateur Championship at Bend Golf Club.

Humphreys, the former Camas High standout playing at Boise State and runner-up in this tournament the past two years, and Tibbits, the former Fort Vancouver standout and Oregon State player, both won twice on Thursday and are one win away from facing off in a semifinal.

Humphreys, the No. 8 seed, beat Hunter Wescott of Portland 2 and 1, and then Reilly Hegarty of Pendleton, Ore., 3 and 1. He next faces David Hansen of Edmonds.

Tibbits, seeded fifth, posted a 6 and 5 win over Clare Langford of Bend, and a 3 and 2 win over Charles Sitton V of West Linn. He next faces J. Michiel Eyre of Salem.

Camas resident Amanda Elich reached the quarterfinals of the women’s championship. Seeded fourth, Elich had a 5 and 4 win over Kaitlin Collom of Klamath Falls, Ore.

Top seed GiGi Stoll of Tigard beat Taylor Hartley of Battle Ground 6 and 5. Hartley had advanced by beating Hailey Oster of Camas 7 and 6.
