The husband of a married couple who recently moved from Vancouver to the Collins Lake area in Mason County stands accused of beating his wife to death, according to KOMO-TV.

Stuart Sullivan, 56, appeared before a judge Wednesday morning facing a charge of first-degree murder, the Seattle-based television station reported.

Stuart and Donna Sullivan moved to Mason County a few months ago, KOMO reported.

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office posted a photo to social media Wednesday from the scene of the homicide. The picture showed a gravel driveway with crime scene tape tied to a tree featuring a private property sign.

The sheriff’s office said that deputies were at the home in Tahuya investigating a domestic violence homicide.

“Husband in custody,” the posts say.

According to KOMO, Stuart Sullivan told a 911 operator, “I beat the hell out of (Donna Sullivan) a couple days ago and I think she just died.”

Sullivan’s bail was set at $500,000. He will be arraigned June 25.
