La Center — La Center Middle School received a Community Builder Award from OnPoint Community Credit Union.

The school received a $1,000 donation to help fund its character-strong interactive display, which is intended to train all students to be leaders and build a positive school culture.

The project offers a hands-on experience to the school’s programming students, allowing them to design and create an interactive display kiosk to share character-strong concepts.

Other students will try to demonstrate those concepts out in the community, return to the kiosk and touch a flower petal that will play a sound, light up and count the number of times pushed.

The display will give a visual representation to the community that students are keeping up with the challenges set for themselves.
