A pedestrian was killed trying to cross state Highway 14 on Monday night, according to Washington State Patrol.

Troopers said in an accident memo that the 53-year-old man was attempting to cross the eastbound lanes of the highway near Southeast 192nd Avenue just before midnight when he was struck by a Toyota Prius.

No charges have been filed against the Prius driver. Troopers said alcohol or drugs are not believed to be factors in the fatal crash.
