Excessive speed led to the three-car crash that injured three people on state Highway 14 near the 164th Avenue exit Monday afternoon, according to state troopers.

The Washington State Patrol said Samantha L. Buffon, 30, of Vancouver; Carina L. Moody, 22, of Battle Ground; and Bradley D. Dean, 48, of Camas were all heading westbound in the same lane on Highway 14 around 6 p.m.

Dean had stopped for traffic ahead, and Moody was slowing down behind him, when Buffon didn’t slow down in time and struck the rear of Moody’s car, the State Patrol said. The impact sent Moody’s car into the rear of Dean’s car.

All three went to hospitals following the crash. Dean was listed in satisfactory condition at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center on Monday evening. Buffon and Moody’s conditions were unavailable.

The State Patrol said Buffon was driving too fast for the conditions, and she was cited for speeding.
