UCLA eliminates Gonzaga from Minneapolis regional

MINNEAPOLIS — Ryan Garcia carried a no-hitter through 6 1/3 innings, Garrett Mitchell tripled in three runs, and UCLA eliminated Gonzaga from the NCAA Tournament with a 10-4 win in the Minneapolis Regional on Sunday.

The Bruins (38-20) must beat Minnesota on Sunday night and again Monday to advance to a super regional.

Garcia (8-1) left in the eighth inning after Carson Breshears homered. Garcia struck out nine, walked two and allowed three hits.

Chase Strumpf doubled twice for the Bruins, and Kevin Kendall, Michael Toglia and Daniel Amaral also had two hits apiece.

Mac Lardner (7-4) pitched 6 1/3 innings for Gonzaga (33-24) and took the loss.
